Cecilia Nadal leads a “Circle of Neighbors” small-group discussion at an event in Hermann.

Symposiums on the Shared History of Germans and African Americans
Three events are currently scheduled, where historians and scholars will discuss the relationships between German immigrants and African Americans before, during and after the Civil War.
Symposium Speakers
These events will be followed by two major community engagement activities. Local citizens will be asked to share family stories about these cross-cultural relationships and will have an opportunity to participate in small-group dialog sessions. You can share your story and hear the stories of others at a “Circle of Neighbors” session in your area.
